Conservation & Restoration
We are often asked what is the difference between conservation and restoration. Conservation aims to keep safe what exists, while restoration seeks to re-establish what is missing through reconstruction or replacement.
JLT Designs has experience in the conservation and restoration of a wide and diverse range of textiles and textile objects. Through from a beaded wedding veil from Rajasthan, to items of historic dress, or a much loved patchwork quilt.
The Atelier prepares textiles for storage and can advise on preventive conservation measures. We also have a range of archival storage boxes for the safe keeping of your textiles and can custom make cover cloths/bags for their preservation.
